About the Confederation of Mahuset

Mahuset is a self-declared political entity that describes itself as a community, a social and cultural project, and an exercise of the right to self-determination — often called a “micronation.” It blends creative nation-building with a shared community identity. Small as it is, the Confederation is run in earnest: it holds elections, keeps public accounts in its own currency, passes and publishes law, and maintains a foreign policy.

What is the Confederation of Mahuset?

A self-declared cultural project and political entity — an exercise of the right to self-determination commonly referred to as a micronation.

What is the significance of Chad?

Chad is an honorific title granted by Mahuset for exceptional merit, especially as it relates to the Mahusetan state and nation.

How is Mahuset governed?

It is a federal presidential constitutional republic. The Lord-Stadtholder is head of state, head of government and commander-in-chief. The Lazian Chamber is the elected parliament, and no other body outranks it. Executive business falls to the Council of Ministers, which has had twelve departments since 2019.

Where is Mahuset?

The Confederation is made up of eight constituent entities and holds seven territorial claims, totalling 36.39 km² across Europe, North America and Central Asia. The capital is the Free City of Lazia.

How old is the Confederation?

Mahuset was founded on 29 May 2012 and took its present form as a confederation on 3 January 2016. It began as a schoolyard game in the Netherlands the year before.

Can I take part?

Yes. Anyone may apply for citizenship, whatever their nationality and wherever they live: there is no residence obligation and it does not affect the passport you already hold. You can also contribute without becoming a citizen.
